“此时此地”、“地域主义”、“乡土建筑”——这些经常被刘家琨本人和其他人用来描述其作品的语言都无可避免地跟土地发生着千丝万缕的联系。这也许是因为建筑师成长和工作生活的环境——四川成都，是“一个历史悠久的中国内陆城市，过去的历史文化赖以成长的基础是成熟的农耕文明……”刘家琨的建筑作品常常给人以“质朴”、“稳重”、“务实”的印象——我想大概近似于英语里的“down to earth”，即“脚踏实地”。
